Mammoth hit the national news with our recent snow storms and occupancy shot up. We love it when people hear about the great snow and immediately pack the car and drive up!
It's snowing and within an hour Mammoth Mountain will open for its 71st season. Festivities start at 7:30 with coffee and cocoa!
The temps have dropped and we have awoken to snow two days in a row. Winter is knocking and ski season is around the corner. Mammoth Mountain is due to open for the season in 28 days! The forecast is for the temps to remain below freezing for the next two weeks (at least) and those are perfect conditions for the Mountain to start making snow.
The days are getting shorter, the nights cooler and Mammoth Mountain is preparing to open for skiing and snowboarding on November 15th, only 47 days from today!
We are getting a taste of fall as our temps dip down. According to Weather .com it is going to be 28° tonight. Brrrrrrr! It is raining in town and snowing on Mammoth Mountain.
Last weekend was the busiest of the summer with Bluesapalooza, Mammoth ‘s annual beer and Blues fest. Four days of craft breweries and some fantastic acts including Los Lobos, Trombone Shorty, Devon Allman Project, Grace Bowers and Mammoth’s own The Felt Cutouts. The weather was divine and fun was had by all.
Mammoth used to be known solely as a ski resort but over the years we have become more and more known as a four season resort, with summer starting to rival winter as far as number of visitors is concerned.
The weather is gorgeous, and the forecast has the temps next week moving into the 70s and 80s! Get the bikes, paddleboards, climbing harnesses and hiking boots out. The trails are melting out. Parker Lake on the June Lake Loop is snow-free. Sherwin Lakes trail out of Mammoth is open as well.
Be on the lookout for bears and deer. They are very active at the moment. Remember not to leave any food in your car as the bears are masters at getting into locked cars!
Shoulder Season is the time between busy seasons. So, in Mammoth, this is the time between the winding down of ski season and the beginning of summer season. And the time between summer season and the beginning of the ski season.
